Investigations

The Investigations division is comprised of the following elements: General Investigations, Criminal Intelligence, Evidence, and other detached units including: the FBI Fugitive Task Force, the FBI Computer Crimes Task Force, & the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force. The members assigned to general case assignment receive case assignments on a daily basis. While they are expected to work on any case assigned, some members have specialized assignments within the division. Some examples include School Liaison, Court Officer, Arson Investigator, Sexual Offender Investigator, Asset Forfeiture Investigator, Financial Crimes Investigator, and Mayor’s Office/Liquor Investigator. Others are assigned cases based on the shift they work and the crimes that occur on their watch. Last year, members of the Investigations Division received over 6000 cases for investigation.
