Quality Assurance Commander

Richard L. Demick is a 24-year veteran of the Joliet Police Department. He currently serves as Commander of the Quality Assurance/Technical Services Division. Having begun his career as a patrol officer in 1988, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2004, to lieutenant in 2006, to captain in 2009, and Commander in 2011.
Throughout his career, he has served the Department in various assignments to include detective, detective sergeant, detective lieutenant, patrol supervisor, watch commander, patrol captain, and currently commander. He also serves as Assistant Commander of the Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force.
A graduate of Joliet Catholic High School (Class of 1983), Richard Demick received his Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Joliet Junior College (1985) and his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the College (now University) of Saint Francis (1987). He has attended various police-related management courses to include Supervision of Police Personnel (2003) and the prestigious Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command (2005). He has received many Department awards for his outstanding performance as well as many letters of appreciation from citizens and civic groups.
